Why I decided to self-publish

After many thoughts and much researching I have decided to self-publish for a multitude of reasons. Here is a condensed list:

1. I can crank out books very fast. this is perfect for self-publishing. Self-publishers tend to be the most prolific. Traditional publishing entails a whole lot of downtime and waiting, which is something someone who makes books fast like me is not very good with.

2. Fantasy apparently goes very well with self-publishing. This is something I have heard two different sites say. The other thirteen I visited didn't mention what genres go well with self-publishing, although a statistical site did say romance books are currently in the lead online. So if you're a fantasy or especially romance writer this is a very good choice.

3. YA (Young Adult) and MG books sell like crazy in the indie publishing scene, meanwhile teen books have a fraction of that success. I may be a seventeen year old teenager, but I have written above teenage age stories since I was fourteen. This book is no exception.

4. I like writing more than one genre. Unfortunately publishers prefer authors who stick to one genre as they feel those people will be the best at that genre, and so they may be discouraged with me.

5. I have trouble writing query's. Mostly because I am a first-person writer so a query is a bit of a hard change.

6. I am seventeen years old as of this post. Yeah...

7. I am extremely poor and probably couldn't afford an agent. Which means sending my manuscript off to a publisher would not only take a lot longer without an agent but also may result in getting a predatory contract.

That is the list of my biggest reasons, but I should let you all know just because I choose this route and you feel any sort of connection with me does not mean this is the best choice for you. There really is no "better" choice overall, it all pertains to the person. Look up guides to choosing between traditional and indie self-publishing, then choose what you feel is best. And don't forget to start advertising and building a fandom. I may make a guide for those eventually, but for now all I'll say is use social media like twitter and try to make your username as close to your real name as possible. And be patient, very patient.

That's all for now, if you are wondering why we didn't post last month it is because we both had many things to do and this site doesn't have many views yet, we will post more or less depending on what happens in the future, but we will not abandon this sit, I promise.
